"What if we took aliens who looked like grossly-disfigured clowns, and entombed humans into cocoons that looked like they were made of cotton candy, and the clowns killed people with ray guns and popcorn that turns into weird little creatures with sharp teeth, and their spaceship looks like a big circus tent, and they drop in on a small town that has a makeout point, cranky old police officer and a farmer who spews every single cliche in the book? Wouldn't that make a GREAT movie?"

All that, and somehow, it was quite entertaining. As long you put your brain on park.
