Before the age of the selfie and the plethora of personal video recording devices, one Graham Dalton (James Spader) got off (literally!) on interviewing women about their sex lives (hence the "Sex" and "Videotape" in the title).

Meanwhile, Graham's college buddy, John (Peter Gallagher) is have an affair with his sister-in-law and lying about it (hence the "Lies").
